The Company has placed great importance on ensuring that our products comply with RoHS & WEEE directives well in advance of the statutory deadlines.

Miles-Platts' environmental road map includes attaining certification to ISO14000 in addition to developing technical solutions such as press fit terminals to remove the need for PCB soldering operations and only utilising raw materials that meet the directive.

Miles-Platts products are manufactured with production processes that do not add or contain the following banned substances as outlined in the RoHS directive.

Banned substances
  • Cadmium (Cd)
  • Hexavalent Chromium (CrVI)
  • Lead (Pb)
  • Mercury (Hg)
  • Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB)
  • Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE)


Terminals
The entire range of Miles-Platts terminals has been converted to lead free plating.

Wire pins
Most wire pins have been converted to lead free plating and the entire range will be lead free by 1st January 2005.

Polymers
Miles-Platts uses a large range of engineering polymers from many key manufacturers such as DuPont, Rhodia, Chevron Phillips, DSM, Frisetta & GE Plastics. Each manufacturer has issued a statement regarding the compliance of their material to the directive and copies of those RoHS statements can be downloaded from here
